Geology
The zone is characterized from classic tuscan rolling hills with a medium hightitude of 250 m above sea level (and maximum of 400 m a.s.l.).
Under the geological aspect this area is very eterogeneus. It’s been one of the first to be reached by the collisional deformation of the African plate against the European one. Because of this origin its viticulture develops mainly on medium-deep soils with a clayey and sandy texture originating from Pliocene clays and sands. It happens, working in the vineyard, to find some marine phossils dating back to that era.

Climate
Terre di Pisa’ s climate conditions create a particularly positive habitat for vines and quality viticolture. Rainfall, focused in winter season, doesn’t exceed 780 mm per year, and temperatures, ranging around 15 degrees (4 in winter and 24 in summer), never create a damage to plants. This positive conditions allows a low use of pesticides and create a contest of sustainable management of the vineyard, significantly reducing the environmental impact resulting from the production of these wines.
